the Burntwood rounds were initially designed to enable visually impaired archers to shoot alongside sighted archers. The advantage of the Burntwood rounds is that time is not spent looking for arrows and having extra sighting arrows at distance changes.
However nowadays the Burntwood rounds are being shot by archers who do not wish to shoot the full distances but wish to continue with a sport that they are passionate about. this is encouraging, after all archery is a sport for anyone no matter what their ability is. There is no difference in distances shot by male and female V.I. (visually impaired) archers, as in York/ Hereford rounds for instance. Below is a suggestion for the alternative Burntwood round to be shot alongside recognized rounds shot in tournaments and competitions.
Target boss is always placed at 30m for seniors and 15m for juniors. The number of arrows shot at each distance will remain the same as the alternative recognized rounds. This enables a Burntwood round to be shot alongside its equivalent "sighted"round.
